Teacher Mini-Grant Competition

VATE sponsors a teacher mini-grant competition to support innovative classroom practices. Grants will be awarded in amounts of $50 to $500. Projects must be innovative, classroom-based, and must demonstrate potential for improvement in the English curriculum/classroom.

Projects must have a direct impact on students. Grants can be used to buy classroom supplies and/or software, to attend a workshop or take a college/university class, to finance a student field trip, etc.

Applications for mini-grants must include the following information:

  1. Rationale: Write a description of the proposed project that includes the number of students that will be impacted.
  2. Procedures: Describe plans for implementation.
  3. Goals: Describe what the teacher plans to accomplish for students.
  4. Beginning and completion dates.
  5. Itemized budget.
  6. Letter from principal stating support and willingness to accept grant monies on behalf of the grant writer.
