Now Accepting Presenter Proposals for 2012 Conference
We are now accepting proposals for the 2012 conference, taking place in Richmond on October 26th-28th, 2012 (see the announcement page for more details on the conference). Share your expertise and unique ideas in the classroom by presenting at the conference and illustrate how you demonstrate our theme, “Knowing, Nurturing, & Educating Students as Linguistically Diverse Learners.” We welcome all proposals and give each serious consideration. Please note the conference theme and ensure that your proposal addresses the theme. You are encouraged to submit your proposal early. As a professional, nonprofit organization, VATE cannot reimburse program participants for travel, hotel, or other conference expenses. All presenters must register for the conference. Literacy Explosion 2012 Details
Virginia Association of Teachers of English (VATE) proudly announces our first Literacy Explosion, a language arts festival designed to celebrate and promote the integration of literacy and 21st century learning skills. The Literacy Explosion, which will be held in the spring, encourages and rewards Virginia students’ excellence in reading, writing, speaking, presenting, filming, drawing, and acting. The categories showcase students’ expression and expertise in their use of language, communication, and digital media. All Virginia students in grades K-12 are invited to participate in this opportunity to share their language arts talents and abilities. Competition Information The Virginia Literacy Explosion is a statewide competition for students in grades K-12. In 2011, the annual VATE Conference took place in beautiful Staunton, Virginia on October 14-16.
