About the VATE Blog

Shakespeare BloggingVATE now has a blog. Blogging is a way of developing an electronic community of people with similar interests.

Definition of a Blog

Weblogs, or “blogs” for short, refer to an webpages that are frequently updated in the form of a series of posts archived in reverse chronological order. Most posts are primarily textual and may contain hyperlinks to other websites, but may have pictures, photos, or even videos as well. Many blogs will also have the option for users to leave their comments on a particular entry. In essence, what distinguishes a blog from other types of websites is the notion of frequently dated posts and a webpage that belongs to an individual or a very small group of people for the purposes of conveying information.

What would I use a blog for?

A blog can be used for all sorts of different purposes. Below is a list of just some of them:

VATE Blogroll (Authors)

Carrie Perry, President
Chris Woods, President Elect
Chuck Miller, Executive Secretary
Jan Suppa-Friedman, NCTE Liaison
Linda MacCleave, Webmaster

These people have been set up to be regular Authors for the blog. However, anyone should be able to comment. Comments may require moderation, so if your comment doesn't appear immediately, I will get it online as soon as I receive notification that it's there. I'm still experimenting with this, so be patient if it doesn't work exactly right at first.

If you would like to be on the blogroll as an Author, contact Linda MacCleave. Don't be shy. Writing on a blog is fun and almost as easy as writing an email.
